The Oceanside Recital Series, under the auspices of the Vancouver Island Opera (VIO), proudly presents a unique performance entitled, Schubertiada. The selection chosen is called the Trout Quintet. This Piano Quintet was composed in 1819 by Franz Schubert when he was only twenty-two years old. However, it was not published until 1829, a
year after his death.

This presentation will provide a rare opportunity for Oceanside audiences to hear music of this caliber performed by an ensemble of five professional musicians on piano, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The performances will also include Schubert songs sung by
VIO's President.

While this performance will be the last one for this season, VIO is committed to presenting the popular series of winter/spring concerts in 2011.

The series serves as a fund-raiser for the VIO which will be presenting the full length operetta Die Fledermaus at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre on October 16 and 17, 2010.
