The Board of Directors pursues a policy of cooperative liaisons with other organizations such as visual arts, drama, dance, musicians - vocal as well as instrumental in order to share community resources among each other.
The Vancouver Island Opera (VIO) will present its ninth full-length feature production on October 27 (7:30 pm) and October 28 (2:30 pm), 2012 with the opera Faust at the Qualicum Beach Civic Centre. Excerpts of the opera will subsequently be presented to schools and seniors' facilities in the Oceanside area.
With the principal and several supporting roles sung by young, upcoming operatic talent, and an orchestra of professional musicians, opera fans will, again, be assured of a rich production of splendid singing and action.
Complimenting the leads and the orchestra will be an abundance of local talent. Performers, including youth and children, will be featured in supporting roles and as extras. The excellent chorus will support the production with their considerable talent and energy.
Our production will be presented under the honorary patronages of The Honourable Steven L. Point, OBC, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, His Worship Chris R. Burger, Mayor of the City of Parksville and His Worship Teunis Westbroek, Mayor of the Town of Qualicum Beach.
In order to achieve our goals, we need the support of the community. Please click on Support the Opera on this website for a listing of our categories of sponsorships and for opportunities to volunteer.
